The Toyota Yaris has been completely redesigned for 2012. The Yaris is a subcompact economy hatchback that is offered in three trims – L, LE, and SE and comes with your choice of three or five doors. The front-wheel-drive 2012 Yaris has a 1.5-liter inline-4 engine that generates 106 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque. This car comes with your choice of a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission. The EPA has rated the manual at 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway and the automatic at 30 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

The 2012 Yaris comes with a choice of three or five doors for the L and LE trims and with five doors for the SE trim. The L trim has many standard features including air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, and power door locks. The LE trim adds additional features such as power windows, a six-way-adjustable driver seat, and an improved stereo system. The 2012 Yaris provides improved safety with its standard nine airbags and front seats that were designed to reduce injury from whiplash. Other standard safety features include four-wheel antilock brakes, traction and stability control, Emergency Braking Assist, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, child seat anchors, and tire pressure monitoring.

The front seats of the 2012 Yaris are supportive and comfortable and provide good visibility for the driver. Rear passengers will find that they have plenty of leg space and cargo room has been increased behind the rear seats to 15.6 cubic feet in the five-door Yaris. Passengers can enjoy improved sound quality from a standard speaker system that is above average for this segment.
